We've been matched!

The moment we have been praying for has arrived!  On my husband's birthday, I was over at a friend's house when I got the phone call saying our agency had a baby's file for us to review.  I rushed home to open the email and fell in love with his sweet little face.  It's so strange to look at a photo of a child and know that it will be your child.  He's adorable.  Just absolutely perfect.

I can't post his Korean name, but the name we've chosen to give him is Silas Lochlan.  He was 6 months old at the time of our match, but he's 7.5 months old right now.  There's a lot of really cool info surrounding our match and that I can't share since he's legally not my child yet.  But just know that God is writing a beautiful story in Silas's life.  He's already so loved!

Please continue to pray for little Silas - for his health, his happiness, and that he's able to adjust to our crazy crew quickly.  And also pray for his birth family, who has already had to say goodbye to him, and for his foster family, who is selflessly caring for him until we can be there.  Also pray for our family.  This is such a stressful and time-consuming process full of so many emotional highs and lows.  It's also a drain on our financial resources.  We're happy to do it, but some prayer could always help!

So our next steps are for our dossier to make its way to Korea (it's at Holt right now and should be sent to Korea by the end of week or early next week), then we'll have to wait for an Emigration Permit submission, followed by an Emigration Permit approval, and then a court date.  The remainder of the process should take about 10-13 months.

We are so thankful to everyone who has prayed for us, made donations to our adoption fund, or helped us in our fundraising and/or with any of the paperwork.  It means the world to us to know our friends and family are supportive of our decision to adopt!

We're Adopting!!!

Hi everyone!  We are so excited to share with you all that after several years of dreaming, praying, and wondering how the heck we would ever pull this off we have submitted our application and have officially started our journey to find the next Baby Ott in South Korea.

Adoption has been on our hearts for the last 2-3 years.  However, there were so many things we wanted to do first...  Let's get a bigger house first... Let's have another baby first...  Let's save up more money first...And after checking the first 2 things off our list, we were ready to sit back and save.  But honestly, we knew that would take years and years and that's time we don't want to waste.  Pastor Chris has recently asked us what our God-sized dream is, and guys, this is it!  We're going to step out in faith that our God will provide for us during this experience.  We're going to trust that He will place the perfect child for our family into our home.  We're praying that we can be a blessing to this child and that they will be a blessing to us.  Our family, our hearts, and our home are all open to a child in need of a forever family!

We'd love for you all to join us in praying over this whole process.  It will be long and we'll experience many highs and lows, but we know that the outcome will be sooo worth it!

If you'd like to donate to our adoption fund, we would be extremely grateful.  The average cost of a Korean Adoption is a little over $50,000.  Obviously, we need help reaching this goal.  There's a link on the top right of this page that will take you to our YouCaring profile where you can make a donation.  If you'd like to make a donation using PayPal, my email is kaykayott@gmail.com  You can also mail a check (email me for our address).  We'll be organizing several fundraisers as well and will post that info here.

Thank you all so much for sharing in our excitement!

Waiting List, Here We Come!

After much, much, MUCH back and forth between the two agencies and a bit of a lag with the 4th of July holiday closings, I'm happy to announce that our home study has been approved!  It's actually on it's way to Korea as we speak.  Upon arrival in Korea, we will be placed on the wait list for a referral.  The agency in Korea will look at the medical conditions we are open to accepting, our home study, our pysch evaluation, our family photos, and who knows what else :P to carefully match us with a child that they think would be a good fit for our family.  This could take approximately 6 months depending on how many families are currently waiting to be matched and how many children are waiting for their forever families.

So now we wait and wait and wait for that special phone call.  Who knows when it will happen?  I'll be praying for it to be sooner rather than later!  Please join us in prayer for our family and for our future baby!  This ride has already been bumpy, and it will only get crazier from this point on.  But God has been so faithful to us so far, and we can't wait to see what He has in store for us!

Update

In the past few weeks we've applied to another agency to do our Home Study and have been approved!  We have our first home visit next week  :)  So excited to be checking things off the list!

We had our first adoption fundraiser this past Saturday.  It was a LuLaRoe PopUp, where people could shop and have 40% of their purchase price donated to our adoption fund. The fundraiser runs until the end of March, so if you want to shop just request to join the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1416435111716709/ and then browse through the albums.  If you see something you'd like, just comment with "Sold" and your email address.  My consultant will send you an invoice.  I'd be very appreciative!

And lastly, I have a prayer request.  Our family has had sooo much sickness and blows to our health since we've started this process.  Nothing major, but enough to be frustrating and put a strain on our pocketbook with the constant doctor's visits and medications.  Plus, I don't want my kids to be sick anymore!  Could you pray for our health, please?

Thanks everyone!

Application Approved!

We just received an email saying that our application has been approved and is being sent to the Korea Program! We've been given the green light to set up our home study. Wow! It kinda seems surreal, but this is actually happening y'all!
